I'm back! after an exhausting 71 hours of work last week, I finally enjoyed my rest days, including 2 days as offset that summed up to a 5 days vacation. And our getaway is.. Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It was our first time to step into KL's grounds so everything that I saw were much wonderful than what I've expected. From its highway itself which covered 380 KMS from the SG border to Kuala Lumpur, you will definitely agree that Malaysia is a rich country. Gee, it's 10 times longer than our North Luzon Expressway in the Philippines. It made me realized that my home country was left far behind its neighbors (hope that our government will be doing their job now).
Our journey from SG to KL took 5 hours and we find it smooth and relaxing.. thanks to Grassland Express' reclining chairs, we were able to sleep throughout our travel. The only thing that I complained about the coach is their toilet.. it was under repair so it's not worth of what we paid.
It was around 2 PM when we arrived in Kuala Lumpur. We alighted at the Imbi Monorail Station so we can take a train to Jalan Tun Tan Cheng where our hotel is located. There are 8 LRT lines operating in Kuala Lumpur including the Monorail Transit looping through the Golden Triangle. Fare was cheap at 1.2 Ringgit but the connectivity between the lines is poor like what we experienced at Hang Tua interchange interconnecting the Monorail Transit and the Sri Petaling Line.

We supposed to book on a hotel at the Bukit Bintang area to be close to the shopping malls but all that we enquired were fully booked so we ended up booking at Ancasa Hotel near Chinatown. It made us realized that it's the month of August that Malaysia is celebrating their Independence and this year is their 50th anniversary so there were a lot of tourists that came in to visit the country. Most of them that we saw were coming from the Middle East, mostly Suni and Shiite Muslims with women wearing black robes with their face covered.
On our first day, we spent our time shopping in Chinatown instead of visiting the shopping district of Bukit Bintang inorder to avoid the heavy traffic jam and the tiring travel through the LRTs.
It was on the second day morning that we went to the Petronas Twin Towers so we can get a free ticket to the skybridge but we have no luck cause they cut the queue at 9:30AM while we arrived at 10, so we ended up taking pictures outside the towers.
After the Petronas, we went to the Menara KL Tower which is about 2 kms away from the twin towers. It's a telecommunications tower which is a few meters higher than Petronas since it was built on a hill. The Tower's observation deck provides a great view of the city and the entrance fee is 20 Ringgit.
And then, we headed to the Bukit Bintang Shopping District. The place is similar to Makati in the Philippines but it's a bit dirty with trashes you'll see at the streets. There were a lot of Foot Massage Parlors as well which we haven't tried cause the price is almost the same in SG.
at 6 PM,We then went to Berjaya Times Square Mall near the Imbi Monorail Station, did some final shopping before we had our trip back to SG. It was as huge as the Mall of Asia in PH I guess. All the 10 storeys of the mall were filled with stores.
Then at 9PM, I went back to the hotel to get our things while honey was waiting at starbucks and we headed back to SG at 11PM.
Overall Rating: 5 out of 10. I did not enjoyed much coz I got paranoid in wandering the streets due to some advice from travellers who already visited there to beware of those pickpocketers and bag snatchers..I've been to Johor Bahru (JB) which the environment is the same with Quiapo but they said that we need to be extra careful in KL than in JB... and our trip back to SG was horrible as we're the only passengers aboard on the coach until we arrived at Pudu Raya, we thought that nobody will travel with us back to SG and the driver and his mate can't speak english.
